Almost half of the respondents indicated they were Alaska Native or American Indian, followed by 37% who indicated they were White. American Indian or Alaska Native comprises almost 16% of the Alaska population (Census 2000). The reasons for the over representation of American Indian or Alaska Native in this survey are unclear.
