VI. Personal Characteristics of Respondents

Respondents were asked several questions related to their health and disability to better understand the respondent group and to provide information to better interpret the results of the survey.

Health

Respondents were asked to describe their health. Five categories of fixed responses were offered. Over 60% indicated their health was only fair to very poor. The Table below displays specific responses.

A Spearman Rho analysis revealed a moderate correlation between work preference and health that is statistically significant (R=.442; p = .001). Those who reported “excellent” or “good” health were more likely to see themselves working for pay or getting a better job in the next year.
