Recommendations
The results of the survey may not be representative of the total population of Working Disabled Medicaid Buy-In program participants due to the relatively low response rate. Further, not all questions were analyzed due to insufficient data. With these caveats, the findings suggest several strategies that might improve the program or better assist people with disabilities to go to work:
- Increase awareness of the general public and employers about the Working Disabled Medicaid Buy-In program.
- Increase the asset and income limits of the program.
- Increase awareness about asset building account options.
- Continue efforts to increase affordable, reliable, and accessible transportation.
- Continue efforts in increase the availability of affordable housing.
- Increase awareness of employers about the benefits of hiring employee with disabilities and assist them to design accommodation strategies.
